In celebration of her most recent collab with us, let’s get to know Vanessa a little bit better. We sat down with the nail tech-turned influencer to get the inside scoop on her nail journey.
How did you first get into doing your own nails?
I’ve been getting my nails done since I was 15, but eventually I got so over what the salons were giving me — the shape, the designs, the quality… it just wasn’t it. So I went down a full-on rabbit hole of gel extensions and started doing my own nails at home. I found such a passion for it that I started doing nails for my family and friends… and now I’ve got paying clients too!
What drew you to gel extensions specifically?
Honestly, I became allergic to the quick-drying glue used to stick on regular nail tips — so I had to find an alternative. That’s when I discovered gel extensions, and they worked perfectly for me. They’re gentle on my skin and still let me have the long nails I love.
Any top tips for someone just starting out with gels?
- Start with the basics!
- Grab your primary colours and mix them to create new shades until your collection grows.
- You don’t need everything at once — just build your kit as you go.
How did you first discover Ezmio?
Because of my glue sensitivity, I wanted to invest in products that were safe for sensitive skin and free of harsh chemicals. I saw that Ezmio is 12-free, and when I tried a few of their gels, I instantly loved the consistency and how well they held up!
What do you love about Ezmio that’s different from other brands?
First, they’re 12-free, which is amazing for people with sensitivities like me. And second, they’re Australian-operated — which I love supporting. Plus, they honestly have everything you could need to do your own nails and then some!
