Tell us a little bit more about Medley’s business journey. What is the aspiration of the brand?

Like Esmio, Medley is a Covid baby. Medley was founded to fill a gap in the market for quality, affordable jewellery that is also responsibly sourced and sustainable. When people think of fast fashion they often think of clothing brands – but we wanted to remind people that this also exits in the jewellery and accessories industry, and so we created a modern brand that offers an alternative to this.

With sustainability a priority, talk us through Medley’s responsible sourced initiatives as well as goals for the future.

Sustainability and responsible sourcing are huge brand pillars for Medley. Some of our sustainability initiatives include using recycled gold and silver, we only accept recycled gold and silver from RJC chain of custody certified suppliers. The RJC Chain of Custody Certification means our suppliers handle and trade gold and silver metals in a fully traceable and responsible way.

We have recently been SCS Certified for our Laboratory-Grown Diamonds, which means that these pieces are assessed against origin traceability, ethical stewardship, climate neutrality, sustainable production and sustainable investments. This aligns with our ‘Responsibly Sourced’ brand mission, and better empowers you to make a purchase that aligns with your values.

We’ve also created recyclable and sustainable packaging for our products – including the jewellery box itself! These are just some of the things we are doing, however there is always more to be done to create a more circular product lifecycle – one of our goals is definitely to recycle more products and also allow customers to recycle old jewellery with us to give it new life.

At Medley we like to talk to our new collections in a way that is more philosophical and creative rather than micro trends. Our intention is to remove the pressure that often comes from social media and fast fashion brands to keep buying and changing your wardrobe to “fit in”. We want our customers to think of their Medley pieces as wardrobe investments, something that will always be in fashion to you because you are only wearing it for yourself and no one else.

We are all about finding your individual jewellery style through inspiration, whether that’s from creatives, stylists, designers – whatever is catching your eye and how can you implement this into your wardrobe? If you love minimal and understated clothing, maybe you want to wear some find 10k pieces that you wear every day. Or if you like to be more maximalist maybe over stacking and chunky styles will be more your vibe.

What is your go-to piece of the season?

Right now, our go-to piece are the ribbed square studs and the San Marco Kite Necklace – these are both great statement pieces that will allow you to dress up any outfit!

What would be your iconic Gojelle & Medley styling?

Definitely the Victoria Red press-ons with some statement rings! The Ribbed Tapered Barrel Ring in Gold would look perfect paired back with the bright red.

Tell us about what we can expect from the rest of 2024.

We have recently re-opened our Chadstone pop-up store, it is only there temporarily but a major focus for us right now is to allow our customers to see Medley in person and get to know some of the faces behind the brand! We have a couple more product launches coming out this year as well so stay tuned!
